In order to obtain a music license, you need to obtain permission from a legal entity that represents the artist’s work.

This can be the artist themselves, a publisher, record label, performing rights organization or music licensing company.

After terms and conditions have been agreed upon, the licensing entity can issue the legal paperwork for the license.

Copyrighted music requires a different types of music licenses to be used for all sort of projects, including movies, public performances, reproduction, etc.

Traditionally, a person needing permission would have to approach the artist or their representative (i.e. record label, performance rights organization, publisher) for permission to use their work.

2.1 Single song Licensing

We've reached predefined deals with hundreds of our artists and their labels by negotiating terms with them.

Many of our licenses are available immediately on the site, depending on the sorts of music licenses, the size of your company, and the type of project.

Licenses are often available for purchase on a simple click for youtubers, wedding filmmakers, non-profit organizations, and small businesses.

To license music, simply follow these steps:

Discover our catalog to find the music you like.
Click the "License" button on the song page or in the song rows.
In the license builder popup, choose the type of project you're working on and your distribution requirements.
Add the license to your shopping cart and fill in your billing and payment details.
You will receive an email confirmation with a receipt and a link to download the song file.

2.2 Enterprise Licensing

Our Account Executives may need to pay additional attention to a license at times. This could be due to a variety of factors.

Some of our artists prefer to evaluate all of the ways their music is used, while others only allow their songs to be used for specific purposes.

Other times, the scale of a company (large corporations and organizations) or the scope of a project (broadcast TV, wide-release films, etc.) requires an Enterprise license from our team.

Because it reflects a subtle negotiation between the artist and the person requesting the license, this is referred to as "traditional" or "custom" licensing.
